Zopiclone belongs to a class of medicines commonly called Z drugs. It is used to treat insomnia for a short period of time. It shortens the duration of sleep onset and lessens nighttime awakenings. Zopiclone tablet works by acting on the way messages are sent to your brain, which helps to sleep and improve sleep maintenance and hence provides restful sleep.
Zopiclone is frequently effective in the short term, but it is generally given for two to four weeks. This is because your body becomes used to it in a short period of time and it is unlikely to have the same impact after that. When zopiclone tablets are consumed for longer periods of time than your body may get dependent on them.
Zopiclone is available in tablet and liquid forms with doses of 7.5mg, and 10mg. It may take up to an hour for this to begin functioning.
Side effects of consuming Zopiclone tablets may include daytime drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, stomach upset, dry mouth, and unusual or unpleasant taste in your mouth.
