Clindamycin Capsule

Clindamycin hydrochloride is the hydrated hydrochloride salt of Clindamycin. Clindamycin is a semi synthetic antibiotic used before dental procedures or surgery to prevent infections for the case of the patients has heart conditions that put them at greater risk of infection.

Clindamycin capsule is prevents the growth of bacteria. Clindamycin kills bacteria by preventing the growth of the bacteria, so they cannot reproduce. Clindamycin is indicated in the treatment of serious infections caused by susceptible anaerobic bacteria.

Clindamycin is also applied in the treatment of serious infections due to susceptible strains of streptococci, pneumococcal, and staphylococci. Its use should be reserved for penicillin-allergic patients or other patients for whom, in the judgment of the physician, penicillin is inappropriate.

Clindamycin has a primarily bacteriostatic effect. It is a bacterial protein synthesis inhibitor by inhibiting ribosomal translocation, in a similar way to microclines.

Clindamycin is sold in capsule form which is taken orally but it is also available in a topical gel, topical lotion, topical swab, topical solution, vaginal suppository, and vaginal cream.

The dose of Clindamycin for children is based on body weight. The recommended dose is 2 mg to 5 mg per kilogram of body weight taken every 6 hours. Prior to surgery or dental procedures, the recommended adult dose is 300 mg taken 1 hour before the procedure and 150 mg 6 hours after the first dose.
