Amoxicillin antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections

Amoxicillin capsule are used for treatment of multiple types of infection caused by bacteria, such as tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, gonorrhea, and infections of the ear, nose, throat, skin, or urinary tract.

Amoxicillin capsule are taken by mouth, or less commonly by injection. Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects.

This medication has been prescribed for your current condition only. Do not use it later for another infection unless your doctor directs you to do so. A different medication may be necessary in that case. If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction to amoxicillin: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
