Cephalosporin Capsule

Cephalosporin is a type of B-lactam antibiotic closely related to the penicillin. A semi synthetic cephalosporin antibiotic with antimicrobial activity similar to cephalothin. It belongs to a class of remedy called Cephalosporins. A class of remedy is a group of medications that work in a similar way. These drugs are often used to treat similar conditions. It is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative organisms.

Mechanism of action of cephalexin capsule is similar to penicillin. It acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, lack of bacterial cell wall results in death due to lyses of bacteria. Cephalexin works by interfering with the formation of the bacteria’s cell walls. This ruptures the walls and kills the bacteria.

By binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall, it inhibits the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cell lyses is then mediated by bacterial cell wall autolysis enzymes such as autolysins; it is possible that cephalexin interferes with an autolysin inhibitor.

Cephalexin oral capsule can interact with other medications, vitamins, or herbs you may be taking. An interaction is when a substance changes the way a drug works.

Cephalexin is used in treatment of respiratory tract infection, obits media, skin infections, bone infection and genitourinary infection caused by sensitive organisms.
